The Armenian language is an Indo-European language spoken by the Armenian people. It is the official language of the Republic of Armenia as well as in the region of Nagorno-Karabakh. Overall, 6.7 million people speak Armenian, and the language is widely spoken by Armenian communities in Australia, USA, Canada, France, Russia, Argentina, Ukraine, Turkey and Azerbaijan.
Armenia is a member of more than 40 international organisations, including the United Nations, the Council of Europe, the Asian Development Bank, the Commonwealth of Independent States, the World Trade Organization, World Customs Organization, the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, and La Francophonie. Armenia is an emerging democracy.
